Bomberman History
As the name suggests, "Bomberman" is a video game about a robot who works in a bomb factory. Our hero discovers that if any bombermen can escape the factory they will immediately be granted one wish. Upon hearing this Bomberman sets out on the road to freedom, but in his way are the factory guards who will do whatever it takes to prevent his progress.
Bomberman a Brief History: Prepare for Blast Off
The game was released in 1983, developed by Hudson Soft and published by Sinclair Research Ltd for it's U.K. release, under the title of "Eric and the Floaters". Bomberman was a single player game from the strategy/maze genre. The game then had it's worldwide release from 1985 onwards.
The object of the game was to aid Bomberman in his escape from the bomb factory. The factory is a maze that is flooded with guards. The player must destroy all the guards in the level, and find the exit before progressing to the next level. There are also hidden rooms that can be uncovered using bombs, and there are 50 floors or levels in total.
To aid Bomberman there are a number of power ups available, such as;
Bombs – This allows the player to deposit one more bomb. The more of these that are collected the more bombs can be laid.
Speed – These are rare, and only one per game maybe found. As the name suggests, this power up alterers the speed our hero can travel through the maze.
Wallpass – This gives the ability to walk through walls.
Detonator – This gives the ability to detonate the bombs whenever you choose.
Bombpass – This allows you to pass safely through the bomb if you find yourself trapped.
Flamepass - This reduces the threat of death from explosions.
Mystery – This grants the user invincibility for a limited period.
